STRONG KIDS CAMPAIGN

It’s hard being a kid today in Butler County. More than 4,000 school age children face special physical and mental challenges; nearly 5,000 children live in single-parent households; and almost 6,500 households in our county are affected by drug abuse. What’s more alarming, 24% of teens have expressed that sometimes they don’t feel like life is worth it. These challenges are proof that our youth, our families and our community are vulnerable and need our support now.

The YMCA knows that the solution to these problems is education, parental involvement and empowering children to make good choices. By engaging youth in positive activity; teaching the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility; and providing positive adult mentors, the Butler County Family YMCA is providing our community with effective solutions.

The Butler County Family YMCA is committed to addressing the relevant issues and challenges that our children are facing today. The YMCA puts Christian principles into practice by providing programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body so that everyone in Butler County—especially our youth—may contribute to building a strong community for us all. Your gift to the YMCA is essential to this mission.

Gifts to the YMCA in support of its programs and services are needed now and will generate benefits far into the future. Every gift to the  Strong Kids Campaign, whatever its size, makes a valuable and immediate difference.

The Butler County Family YMCA currently serves 25% of Butler County’s population (nearly 45,000 individuals) from three locations: the Butler YMCA in downtown Butler; the Rose E. Schneider Family YMCA in Cranberry Township; and YMCA Camp/ARMCO Park in Slippery Rock.

Here are a few ways in which an annual gift to the Butler County Family YMCA goes to work in our community:

  • $10 – Pay for a teen to take guitar lessons
  • $25 – Provide a monthly activity for Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Club of Unmatched Littles
  • $50 – Enable a youth to build character and confidence through a sports program
  • $100 – Pay for 6 months of swim lessons for 1 child
  • $150 – Provide a YMCA membership for a youth in need
  • $300 – Cover the costs for Bigs and Littles to take a bus trip to Pittsburgh
  • $1,000 –Support a match between a caring adult mentor and an at-risk youth
